Scope and ContentDocument tracing the noble descent of the family of the Le Roys, Counts of La Potherie, seigneurs of Champdemanche, Mancy, etc. They possessed properties in Normandy, Anjou, Brittany, Paris and Canada. The document includes a description of their arms. Claude-Charles Le Roy de La Potherie, called Bacqueville de La Potherie (1663-1736), was a distinguished member of this family. Among his accomplishments were important writings on New France, published in his 1722 book Histoire de l’Amérique septentrionale.NotesSource of title: based on the nature of the document.
Signatures and inscriptions: signed “d’Hozier-de-Sérigny” and countersigned by a secretary; signed on the flap by the king, the count of Vendôme, the governor of Touraine, Le Bailly de Meaux and others present.
