Scope and ContentLetter addressed to the Court of Common Pleas (Cour des plaids-communs) for the district of Montreal by John Mactier, customs officer at the port of Montreal, in which he asks John Fraser (1727-1795), a former officer in the 78th Regiment of Foot (Fraser Highlanders) and member of the Legislative Council of Lower Canada, to issue a public notice (monition) concerning the seizure of contraband goods (French brandy and coconuts) at the establishment of William Cushing.NotesSource of title: based on the nature of the document.
