Scope and ContentLettre de convocation adressée à John Hale (1765-1838) pour assister à une assemblée du Conseil législatif ordonnée par James Henry Craig (1748-1812), gouverneur général de l'Amérique du Nord britannique.

Né en Angleterre, Hale est un ancien officier de marine et d'infanterie pour la couronne britannique. Après avoir servi à Halifax, il retourne en Angleterre où il fonde une famille, mais il revient s'établir à Québec en 1799 pour occuper le poste de trésorier-payeur général adjoint de l'armée britannique d'Amérique du Nord. En 1807, il devient inspecteur général des comptes publics. Il fait partie du Conseil législatif de 1808 jusqu’à sa mort en 1838.
