Scope and ContentIn this letter Étienne Macdonald informs the Count of Vaublanc that he will be returning in eight days’ time. Macdonald also mentions a letter from the minister of war explaining how the staging routes have been equipped. Étienne Macdonald, 1st Duke of Taranto (1765-1840), was a lieutenant-general during the French Revolution, marshal of the empire during the First Empire, and duke and peer of France during the Second Restoration. Vincent-Marie Viénot de Vaublanc, called the Count of Vaublanc, (1756-1845), was a state minister and member of the privy council during the Second Restoration.
