Scope and ContentResponse from the archbishop of Paris regarding the request from Jacques-Charles Renaud Dubuisson (1671-1739), officer in the colonial regular troops in Canada, for permission to marry Marie Gabrielle Michelle Binet Desmarais (1680-1715) in France. The testimonies of fellow officers Jacques Levasseur de Néré (1662-1724) and Marc-Antoine Lelong de Cottentré (1663-1712) confirm Dubuisson’s years of service in the colonial regular troops and his family’s consent to the marriage. The archbishop concludes by approving the marriage between Dubuisson and Binet, which would take place in France shortly before November 12, 1700.
