Scope and ContentOne of the founders of the Société des amis des Noirs, Jacques Pierre Brissot de Warville (1754-1793), had been requested by the Anglo-American William Thornton to provide support to the French in transporting free Black settlers to Africa, to the new settlement of Sierra Leone.
