Letter

This letter was written by Josias Jorgensen, the man who found Maurice Baribeau after his plane crashed in Norway. In it, Josias explains his connection to the pilot and tells Mrs. Baribeau (Lucia Lacroix) that he regrets being unable to properly help her son. He blames himself for not having contacts within the Norwegian secret service or knowing how to do more to help save Maurice. He also talks about his fear of dangerous consequences for himself and his family. The very fact that he helped Maurice meant that he and his two sons were arrested and brutally interrogated. The German army also used the incident as an excuse to ransack his house, thinking that Maurice Baribeau's co-pilot was hiding in the Jorgensen home.

Despite everything, Josias' letter expresses great relief. Ultimately, he needed to know that Maurice was safe and sound to assuage his painful memories and gain some inner peace. The letter is accompanied by an envelope addressed to Mrs. T. Baribeau.
