An 18th-Century Page Boy
Bruce Reford grew up in another of Montreal’s most privileged homes. Just after his fourth birthday, he wore this costume as a page at his aunt’s wedding. Children did not dress in historical costumes solely at parties intended for them. The pageantry of a wedding gave scope for the sort of performance where historical fancy dress added cachet. A large framed photograph of him in this costume graced a wall in his family home.
