Scope and ContentMalcolm Fraser (1733-1815) was a British army officer who served in the North American theatre of the Seven Years’ War (1754-1763) and the American War of Independence (1775-1783). Formerly a captain in the 84th Regiment of Foot, Malcolm Fraser is applying to Guy Carleton, 1st Baron Dorchester (1724-1808), governor general of Canada, for the vacant position of captain in the 26th Regiment of Foot. The document outlines his service record, but Fraser would not be given the commission. Until 1794 he would retain his position of major in the Quebec Battalion of British Militia, which he had held since 1787. NotesSource of title: based on the nature of the document.
