Scope and ContentAn intermediary recounts for the Count of Noailles all the facts involving Pierre Joseph Céloron de Blainville (1747-1803), gentleman cadet in the colonial regular troops in Canada. Particular mention is made of his father’s death in 1759 and the battle at Fort Lévis, where he was made prisoner of war by the British. Taken to New England, he was later transferred to Great Britain and eventually exchanged. Back in France, Blainville came under the guardianship of his maternal grandfather, François Henry de La Périelle. The Count is provided with this information in the hope that he will take the young man under his protection and help him find employment, since he is only 18.
