Scope and ContentProcédures données au capitaine Philip Townsend (1700-1786) du 22nd Regiment of Foot (The Cheshire Regiment) afin qu’il les transmette aux officiers recruteurs. En garnison à Halifax à l'automne de 1758, le commandant des forces armées britanniques d'Amérique du Nord, Jeffery Amherst (1717-1797), recrute de nouveaux soldats afin de remplir les nombreuses places devenues vacantes dans ses régiments à la suite du siège de Louisbourg mené dans le cadre de la guerre de Sept Ans (1754-1763), à l’été 1758, qui a fait plusieurs morts et blessés. Les instructions sont claires et précises : on exige que les recrues aient un âge minimum et maximum, une grandeur minimale et aucune infirmité. Sont aussi indiquées les modalités du recrutement et les primes que les officiers recruteurs recevront par tête de soldat recruté. NotesSource du titre : Basé sur la nature du document.
