Scope and ContentLetter from John Hoppner (1758-1810) to James Northcote (1746-1831) asking the latter to do him the favour of replacing him in the “service of visitors” task he had agreed to undertake. Hoppner assures Northcote that the Royal Academy of Arts will pay him for any expenses incurred. Both men were well-known British painters.
