Scope and ContentHenry Paget est un officier de l'armée britannique en garnison à La Prairie en 1838. Cette lettre s'adresse à son père Edward Paget (1775-1849), vétéran des guerres napoléoniennes. Henry lui donne de ses nouvelles et l'informe qu'il doit aller à Québec. Il situe et décrit ses quartiers. Il indique les possibilités d'aller à Montréal. Il parle des officiers et constate qu'ils sont inoccupés. Il remercie son père d'avoir parlé en bien de lui au commandant en chef des forces armées britanniques John Colborne, 1er baron Seaton (1778-1863). Ce dernier l'a invité à un souper où il fut très bien reçu. Il semble avoir obtenu la protection de Colborne qui souhaiterait faire de lui son aide de camp.
