The Princesse de Savoie
Marguerite Pillow of Montreal recalled that she had her dress copied from a portrait of Madame de Pompadour in the Louvre. Unlike most costumes displayed here, hers has never been altered. While the 1890s renderings of the 18th century always conformed to the hourglass silhouette fashionable in that decade, this version, like others from the 1920s, opted for the flattened bustline so fashionable then.
