Scope and ContentDans le cadre du théâtre américain de la guerre de Succession d'Autriche (1740-1748), la citadelle de Louisbourg fut prise le 28 juin 1745 par une force conjointe des colons de la Nouvelle-Angleterre soutenue par leur métropole. Après 35 ans comme officier dans l'armée britannique, Peregrine Thomas Hopson (?-1759) débarque à Louisbourg en tant que commandant du 29e régiment d'infanterie. À partir de septembre 1747, il obtient le poste de lieutenant-gouverneur. Dans cette lettre adressée à Monsieur Hancock, Hopson se remémore leur souper du 13 août 1747. Il parle de la nourriture et des boissons consommées. Il termine en s'excusant pour les problèmes qu'il lui a causés.NotesSource du titre : Basé sur la nature du document.
