Scope and ContentThe Sieur de Chambre, lieutenant-commander, asks Jean-Frédéric Phélypeaux, Comte de Maurepas (1701-1781), secretary of state for the Marine, for permission to retire with the rank of ship’s captain and a pension bestowed by the king that reflects his 48 years of service.
