Scope and ContentForm signed by William Shirley (1694-1771), governor of Massachusetts, authorizing the enrolment of a volunteer in the militia regiment scheduled to take part in the expedition against Louisbourg to be led by William Pepperrell, during the War of Austrian Succession (1740-1748).
