Scope and ContentAcknowledgement of a debt by Pierre Gaultier de Varennes et de La Vérendrye (1685-1749), lieutenant in the colonial regular troops serving in Canada, and of his wife Marie-Anne Dandonneau du Sablé, to Montreal merchant René Chorel, called Saint-Romain. The debt amounts to several thousand dollars. If, on the creditor’s first request for payment, the debtor is unable to pay, he will be obliged to mortgage all his moveable assets and property holdings, present and future.
