Scope and ContentClaude de Ramezay (1659-1724), governor of Montreal, acknowledges a debt of 1,200 pounds owed to Montreal merchant Bertrand Arnaud. Ramezay was to have paid the debt directly to a creditor of Bertrand Arnaud’s, Charles de Couagne (1651-1706). Since Arnaud has died, the debt is now to be paid to his widow, Marie Gaudé, before September 20 at noon.NotesSource of title: based on the nature of the document.
