NotesExhibition Costume Balls - Dressing Up History, 1870-1927
Lady Melvin
Lucienne Ahern of Quebec City evoked Tudor style with her high whisk collar and cap, both now missing from the costume. Otherwise, her character is unidentifiable in the annals of history, the name likely misspelled or misinterpreted as guest lists were hurriedly transcribed and set to print. Her costume appears to be remodelled from a dress from about 1850 with its deep pointed waistline still intact.
