NotesExhibition Costume Balls - Dressing Up History, 1870-1927
Seigneur de Rouville
Colin Campbell was one of several guests at the ball not attached to any historical set. He dated his character to 1760, and invoked the family title acquired when his father purchased the seigneury south of Montreal in the mid-1840s. The 18th-century waistcoat that he wore beneath his coat was undoubtedly a family heirloom. Later, his coat was altered so the skirt edges are now curved at the front.
