Fonds
David Thompson (1770-1857), who became one of Canada's most important geographers, joined the North West Company in 1797 and was made a partner in 1804. From 1816 to 1826, Thompson worked on a survey of the boundary line between Canada and the United States for the International Boundary Commission. While working on this project, he moved to Williamstown, Glengarry County, Upper Canada, but spent his last years in Longueuil, Québec.

Scope and Content
The David Thompson fonds contains a meteorological journal dated 1829 and compiled from Williamstown, Glengarry, in the eastern part of Upper Canada. There is also a letter written by Thompson to John Macdonald of Garth of the North West Company. It deals with sums of money that Macdonald owed to Thompson for provisions and articles of clothing. The letter was probably written in 1816.
