At the time the composite photographs were being produced, Frederic Marlett Bell-Smith was an employee of the Inglis Studio. Many of the same characters who appear in his watercolour can be seen in the composites. Bell-Smith completed and exhibited his painting in Guelph, Ontario in 1874.
